Department of Sociology

About Us
Sociology was one of the seven subjects which were recognized in the initial phase of the Institute. Dr. Muhammad Salim was the first Head of the Department, who later joined the Department of Sociology at Kashi Hindu University, Varanasi. Rajendra Jaiswal (Moved to America) was the next head of the Department followed by N.K. Gupta (Moved to Delhi Agriculture College, New Delhi), Dr. Hemlata Srivastava (Moved to CMP College, Allahabad). After her, Dr. Sudhakar Pathak took the in-charge of the Department, during his service he was counsellor in IGNOU at KNIPSS, Sultanpur.  He has also published over two dozen research papers and under his guidance merely a dozen students have obtained the Doctorate Degree. After the retirement of Dr. Sudhakar Pathak, in the year 2017, Prof. Pramod Kumar Singh took the charge of Headship. He is also published many research report. Apart from holding the post of HOD, he is member of several committees of the Institute. The Department has organized several seminars under Babu Kedarnath Singh Memorial Lecture series held annually in the Institute. Also, social cultural activities are conducted in the Department from time to time.
