About Us
Urdu is one of the modern languages of India. It is a language full of charm and elegance, a language that holds literature so courtly, many feel that the charm of expressing thoughts in Urdu is not matched in any other language. The fort of Urdu language has been and still is its literature that has some master pieces. Likewise, poets like Mirza Ghalib, Allama Iqbal and Faiz, have had a give and take relation with the language where they took the language as a bridge between their thoughts and their readers, they also gave the gems of the beautiful poetry to the language.
Literature in Urdu grew at three different centres and they are Dakan, Delhi and Lucknow. As it happened the Dakan emerged as the earliest centre and produced a number of poets from the middle of the fourteenth century to the middle of the eighteenth century. When Delhi emerged as another significant centre, Urdu literature reached its height of excellence during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Lucknow made its way as the third important centre with many great poets. These literary centres where the classical traditions developed had their individual stylistic and thematic identities.
Department of Urdu at K.N.I.P.S.S. was established under graduate level in the year 2000-2001 In the Department apart from routine academic classes, cultural programs are also planned. Additionally, interactions with local Urdu poets, writers and their lectures for the students are also organized. There is large collection of Urdu literature books in library.
